ICS Frequently Asked Questions
- "I use Hotmail for my email. How can I tell, in a timely manner, when a new Ice Man Alert has arrived?"
If you only occasionally check your email on the Internet (like hotmail.com), but you would like to be alerted immediately when an email comes in (like the Ice Cold Stocks "Commentary Updates"), there's a better way to do it.
If you are using Windows, you probably have MS Outlook and MS Outlook Express installed on your computer (it comes as part of the Windows system). You can set up Outlook so that it will go to your web-based email account (like hotmail.com), download your messages, and then notify you when new mail has arrived.
You can find the details of setting this up by visiting hotmail.com (or whatever service you are using) and looking in the Help section.
One thing you should do in Outlook is to set the interval in which the mail is downloaded. By default, the time is 20 minutes. That means that every 20 minutes, Outlook will go to hotmail.com (or wherever), check for mail, download it to your computer, and then notify you (usually with a beep and the appearance of an envelope icon in the System Tray [located in the lower right-hand corner of your computer screen] that mail has arrived. Although the location of this setting may vary depending on your version of Outlook, the path is something like: Tools » Options » Mail Delivery » "Check for new messages every . . ."
For timely updates, set it for one (1) minute.

- "When I try to hear the latest Update, I hear the one from yesterday [or the one from earlier in the day]. What can I do?"
Usually, there are two possible explanations/solutions. First, you may need to refresh your "cache" (browser memory). Sometimes, the previous recording will be stuck in your browser's memory. To clear the memory, hold down the Shift key on your keyboard and with the mouse, click on your browser's Refresh icon. Or, just hit the F5 key on your keyboard. Hitting F5 is the easy solution, but it's not as certain as the previous one.
The other explanation is that the latest version hasn't been posted yet. Sometimes it's posted a few minutes before the regular time, sometimes a few minutes after. Wait a minute or two, then try again. Or, sign up for our Email Alerts. We'll notify you the moment that the new Update has been posted.
If these solutions fail, you can call the Ice Man tech support at 818-337-5900 ext. 88 between 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Eastern Time, Monday thru Friday.

- "I've signed up for the Ice Man's Alert but I'm not receiving his Email Update."
The most common cause is that your Email client ("Outlook," "Hotmail," etc.) is rejecting the email as spam. To correct this, go into your email client and change the spam settings. Set it to accept email from "admin@icemanstocks.com" and "admin@icecoldalerts.net" (without the quote signs) or with the words "ice man" in the subject.
With Hotmail, it's easy: go to Options, then Mail, then Safe List. Type in "admin@icemanstocks.com" and "admin@icecoldalerts.net" and click the Add button.
In Outlook, it's more complicated. First, click on Tools, then Rules Wizard. Note that these titles may be a little different, depending on which version of Outlook you're using. In "Rules Wizard," look to the right and click on New. Then, under "What type of rule do you want to create?", select "Check messages when they arrive." (This should be the default choice.) Then click Next.
Under "what condition(s) do you want to check?", scroll down to "with specific words in the subject." Check the box. In the window below that, click on the words "specific words" and a window should open. In the Add New box, type in "Ice Man" and hit Add then Next.
Under "what do you want to do with the message?", scroll down and check the box by "mark it as importance." In the window below, click on the word "importance" and when the new window opens, select "High" and then OK. Finally, click Finish.

- "How do I uninstall the ICS Free Financial Toolbar?"
Open your browser. On the far left side of the ICS toolbar you'll see the letters "ICS" in navy blue. There's an arrowhead just to the right of it. Press the arrow with your mouse and a drop-down menu will appear. At the bottom of that menu, you'll see the word "Uninstall." Click that, and the toolbar will uninstall itself.
